Damn Treadmills

Not a fan of treadmills. But I’m also not a fan of running the streets of Norwalk on a Tuesday afternoon. I was supposed to run 6 miles, but I could only make it about 3.5. Treadmills are utterly frustrating for so many reasons, but the worst reason is that it tries to tell me how to run, how long to run, when I should rest. I can’t just get on a treadmill and run for 60 minutes, adjusting the pace as I see fit. Maybe there is a way to do it, but it is certainly not intuitive. So around 30 minutes into my run, the treadmill just shut down. “You’re done! Get out of here!” But I wasn’t done. But after running another 10 minutes, I just couldn’t take it anymore. I was look out the window staring at traffic on the I-5 and some melt recycling place as I ran absolutely nowhere in some small hot hotel gym room. It doesn’t compare to the trails. But I also made the decision to stop because my legs feel tired this week. Not to repeat myself, but I am really worried about overtraining, and I think I might be doing just that. This weekend is a 18 mile run. So, I think I can be a little short on this one. It will also give me the chance to figure out the stupid treadmill. Bing Map
