Three Days of Green

Heather, Kenai, and I headed out to Pt. Sal this morning for a easy hike/run.  I wanted to take it easy today, and bringing Heather would force me to do so, since she slows down after a couple of miles anyway.  It was a nice day out there.  The hills are green right now, and that will only last about three days total, so by Tuesday, they’ll be brown again.  Gotta enjoy it while we have the chance.  I wore the Newtons today, and I think I figure out why my arches hurt a little more when wearing them as compared to my Inov8 zero-drop, neutral shoes.  I think it is because the lugs on the front of the shoe raise the front of the foot up a little bit, forcing your arch to flex down more than if there was no arch support at all.  It’s almost like negative arch support.  Not sure if that’s actually the cause, but it’s a theory.  Still, I want to wear them more, so I’ll keep rotating into them until my arches are strong enough to handle longer runs.
