Rich Run

No trail run today. Actually, the canyon I wanted to run is Telegraph Canyon (I think), but there always seems to be a problem in this area. Last time we had rain for about 6 hours over the weekend, so the state of CA shut down the trails. Next, I decided to trespass, but to get there I had to traverse a massive traffic jam on Carbon Canyon Rd. Fortunately, I avoided it altogether due to my iPhone. But that involved a despicable breaking of the law. Today, I hoped to avoid law-breaking. I showed up to run 10 damn miles. But goddamn… Carbon Canyon Rd. was closed due to a rockslide, and the city of Brea decided to block the road about 1 mile before the problem. Probably understandable, but annoying. I tried to continue on my route toward the closed trails that had nothing to do with the rockslide, but I caved. I veered off to less enjoyable trails through upper-class neighborhoods. The benefit was that everyone was smiling and running on the trails as opposed to avoiding eye contact and wielding weapons. So that’s good. But it wasn’t too bad. I started with pessimism, but I ended with satisfaction. As the run proceeded, I actually got into an enjoyable groove. The 10 miles slipped off the griddle like buttah. Smooth, yo. Happy with that. Decent amount of climbing. Decent podcasts to listen to. Decent upper-class neighborhoods to run through. Rich run. Bing Map
